About the Author:

Author Randall L. Lange grew up in rural Iowa and attended Iowa State
University , where he and his identical twin brother , Rick , each earned a Doctorate of
Veterinary Medicine . He practiced small animal medicine and surgery at Lange Animal

Hospital in Knoxville , Tennessee , which afforded him the opportunity to witness first-
hand the amazing power of the human-animal bond. Lange and his wife, Christy , share

their home with Josh , their golden retriever . For many years , the Langes and Josh
traveled cross -country to work with the military , non -profit organizations , service
leagues, and countless children's hospitals. This group effort inspired by Josh and led by
Dr. Lange has placed over 90,000 books with children. Now that he is retired, Dr. Lange's
goal is to increase the number of benefiting children to 1,000,000, one child at a time.
